• 1903: bought on 8 May from Whistler by Richard Albert Canfield (1855-1914) , Providence, RI;
• 1914: bought on 12 March by Knoedler's, New York dealers;
• 1928: sold, in October, to John David Wooster Lambert (1889-1976), St Louis;
• 1976: bequeathed to his widow, Mary Lambert;
• 1983: bought by Davis and Langdale, New York dealers, and sold to a private collector, London;
• 1993: sold at auction, Sotheby's, London, 23 September 1993 (lot 124).
