  • 1903: in Whistler's studio at his death and bequeathed to his sister-in-law Rosalind Birnie Philip (1873-1958) ;
  • 1955/1957: probably sold by her to Colnaghi's, London art dealers.
  • Date unknown: acquired by Edward Brian Seago (1910-1974) ;
  • 1974: bequeathed by Seago to Peter Seymour (fl. 1952) , Ludham, Norfolk, and by Seymour to his widow;
  • Date unknown: bought by Warren Adelson (n/a) , New York art dealer;
  • 1993: sold to Gail Kuntz Liebes (1931-2000) and John Liebes (1930-2015), Los Angeles;
  • 2015: passed to the John and Gail Liebes Trust.
