The three works included here under the title Lillie date from between 1898 and 1901. 1
They are dated from Whistler's known association with Lilian ('Lily') Pamington (b. 1887/1888).
Whistler's ward and executrix, Rosalind Birnie Philip (1873-1958), listed three portraits of Lillie among small panels in Whistler's studio at 8 Fitzroy Street on 16 February 1901: ‘Full length in red frock standing by chair', 'Lillie seated. (red frock)' and 'Full length. Lillie seated on sofa. (White Pinafore. Red cap)’ but no such panels have survived. 2
