La Sieste probably dates from 1893. It is thought to be related to the lithograph Nude Model, Reclining c073, dating from November 1893, which was drawn in Paris. The two butterfly signatures are in slightly different form, the one at left, on the round arm of the sofa, suggesting a date of 1890/1892, while the one at right is less easy to date but may date from later.
