Provenance

  • 1893: with Alexander Reid (1854-1928), Glasgow art dealer, but sent to Whistler for possible exhibition;
  • 1894: bought by Dugald M'Corkindale (d. 1903) , Glendermoth, Rothesay, Isle of Bute, in May 1894;
  • 1903: sold at auction, Morrison, Dick & M'Culloch, Glasgow, 6-7 November 1903 (lot 114).

Exhibitions

Whistler had considered sending it to the Salon but changed his mind and touched it up instead. 1
