The dressmaker's shop, Yale Center for British Art

The paintwork is a mixture of bold washes, and crisp, spiky brushwork in details, with some areas left bare. All the preliminary drawing was in wash, with fine lines in grey.

Conservation History

It is on medium weight paper, slightly toothed with a vertical wavy grain, and has been mended on the verso at both lower corners.
