  • 1882: drawn and given to Jane Paterson (b. ca 1853) in August 1882;
  • 1912: bought by Maggs Bros., London, between January and October 1912.
  • Date unknown: owned by M. and J. Moore, according to a bookplate on the album that at some time contained the drawing.
  • 1970: with Kennedy, New York dealers, May 1970.
  • 1972: with James Whitney Fosburgh (1910-1978), New York, from 22 December 1972.
  • 1991: sold at auction, Manay collection, Sotheby's, New York, 11 October 1991 (lot 311, repr.), and bought by a peivate collector.
