On 6 June 1915, the Observer critic wrote: 'in general design and in the woman's pose contains a clear echo of Botticelli's famous "Abundance" at the British Museum', but thought it less effective in 'indicating the sinuosities of the figure' than La Jeunesse [M.1380].
